Alchemy Acupuncture & Herbs is hiring a part-time acupuncturist for Monday evenings and fill-ins when other practitioners are out, with an opportunity to add more shifts in the future.

Our ideal candidate is someone who wants to focus on patient care in a collaborative, supportive environment with other passionate practitioners. We are looking for an individual who has a positive outlook, is self-motivated to build up their schedule and also willing to contribute to the evolution of the practice.

We have been a booming practice in the heart of Wicker Park for 16 years. We have a long-term patient base, strong word of mouth referrals and great foot traffic. While we see patients for a wide array of ailments, we most often treat internal medicine issues, pain management, women’s health, fertility, autoimmune disorders, and mental health.

Alchemy shares space with chiropractors and massage therapists. We refer back and forth and co-treat pain patients with excellent results. We also have a rockstar front desk team.

Duties:

· Provide safe, effective acupuncture treatments

· Chart electronic SOAP notes

· Prescribe herbal formulas (patents and custom using powdered herb pharmacy)

· Perform cupping, guasha, electro-stimulation & moxibustion

· Good patient retention

· Convey a clear treatment plan

· Educate patients on Chinese medicine

Required qualifications

Valid Illinois acupuncture license

Minimum 1-2 years of experience practicing acupuncture

Board-certified herbalist strongly preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Hours

Monday 12-8:30pm

Fill-ins when other practitioners are out

Compensation

$35 – Follow-Up Acupuncture

$42.50 – New Patient Acupuncture

$25 – Guasha, Cupping & Herbal Consults

$50 – Cosmetic Acupuncture

2. Documenting care through electronic health record, AcuSimple, and documenting appropriately and compliantly for insurance companies
3. Treating pediatrics through shonishin treatments, Chinese herbs, and dietary recommendations
4. Writing treatment plans for new patients to explain their TCM diagnosis, what they can do at home to balance their patterns of disharmony, and how frequently they will need to get acupuncture treatments.
5. Taking a full set of vital signs for every new patient and knowing when referral is necessary.
6. Making customized Chinese herbal formulas and making modifications as necessary.

Requirements:
*2 years or more as an Acupuncturist.
*NCCAOM Certified in both Acupuncture and Herbology
*Computer savvy and able to keep up with daily electronic health documentation
*Strong oral communication skills- able to explain the “whys” behind the acupuncture and herbal therapy prescribed, including dosage
* Experience with pediatrics. Must enjoy babies and kids- willing to teach shonishin pediatric treatments
* Able to recognize Western medical red flags and be able to take a full set of vital signs

THE JOB
Starts with 4-5 shifts per week (must be able to work nights and weekends) with potential for more. Additional locations, administrative duties and more shifts are all possible as we grow. Paid training at $15/hour. Hourly rate starts at $25-28/hour DOE. Paid staff meetings. PTO. Unlimited acupuncture. Malpractice and DOH fees paid after completed evaluation period. Completing new patient/initial treatments in 20 minutes or less

Prompt beginning and end of treatments
Providing patients with a wake up call at their designated time
Charting patient notes each shift
Communicating with colleagues as needed

The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM®) is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization established in 1982. The NCCAOM is the only national organization that validates entry-level competency in the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) through professional certification. Currently there are over 17,600 actively certified NCCAOM National Board-Certified Diplomates. National Board Certification or a passing score on the NCCAOM certification examinations are documentation of competency for licensure as an acupuncturist by 46 states plus the District of Columbia. The Veteran’s Administration (VA) has also set NCCAOM national board certification as its primary credential for acupuncturists in its treatment centers, hospitals, and outpatient referral system.

To ensure that NCCAOM continues to assure the safety and well-being of the public and to advance the professional practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, NCCAOM has exclusively retained Nonprofit HR to assist in the recruitment efforts for its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the retirement of the current CEO, Dr. Kory Ward-Cook. The CEO reports to the NCCAOM Board of Commissioners and serves as a nonvoting, ex-officio member of the Board.
