New York Times (12/05/2012) reports on the AAAOM spearheaded letter writing campaign that helped in establishing acupuncture as an essential health benefit in six states. CBS Morning News (01/24/2012) looks at acupuncture for migraines. Story says that acupuncture is effective for migraines, back pain, and possibly other conditions, physicians sometimes think sham is equally effective and that the mechanism of action is placebo (AAAOM disagrees with this finding), public demand and utilization is increasing, acupuncture is safe, effective, and should be considered strongly for those in need.
- Ear Therapy Can Cure Smoking Addiction
KSAT TV San Antonio, TX (02/19/2012) One therapy showing promise is auriculotherapy, which stimulates nerve centers in the brain without the use of drugs. "Auriculotherapy, as I use it, is designed to stimulate your brain to produce it's own chemicals," says Dr. Maritza Paz. "Those chemicals that are missing when you're depressed or anxious."

Now a new bi-national study done here and in China shows how acupuncture is being used to fix a common side effect of getting radiation to the head and neck for cancer.
